The Enhanced 5 Bedroom Family Home project is a design&build project that has been completed in Wilford, Nottingham. This project was commissioned by a private client and has a value of £475,000. The primary focus of this project was to increase space, improve thermal performance, reduce energy costs, and add capital and financial value to the property.

 

The project involved the conversion of a 3-bedroom detached house into a spacious 5-bedroom family home, achieved through the construction of a 2-storey extension on the side of the existing house. The completed works comprised the following:

 

• The house was stripped back to the brick, ensuring a clean slate for the renovations. All waste generated during the process was efficiently removed from the site.
• New steelwork beams were installed to provide structural support and stability.
• A full-scale 2-storey extension was constructed on the side of the building. This extension included the installation of a new concrete slab at the ground floor level, timber joists at the first floor level, and a new section of the roof.
• All new stud walls were erected, with special attention given to soundproof insulation between rooms to enhance privacy and reduce noise transmission.
• The electrical installation was completely replaced, involving a full re-wiring of the property to ensure safety and efficiency.
• The clean water and foul water drainage systems were upgraded. This included the replacement of the boiler and the installation of an additional water cylinder to improve functionality and increase capacity.
• New en-suite facilities were created for the master bedroom, alongside the refurbishment of the main bathroom to enhance comfort and convenience.
• A new kitchen was installed, featuring all new appliances and modern finishes.
• The entire house was replastered and painted, providing a fresh and updated appearance. Additionally, the bathroom, en-suite, and kitchen areas were tiled to add a touch of elegance.
• New floor coverings, such as tiling and carpets, were installed throughout the property to enhance the overall aesthetic.
• Landscaping and garden works were carried out, including the installation of new timber decking. These improvements contribute to the overall appeal and functionality of the outdoor space.
