Beeston Pharmacy

Project Name: Single-storey rear extension to a Beeston Pharmacy

Location: Chillwell Road, Beeston

The primary objective of this project was to meet the client’s requirements for additional space to accommodate expanded pharmacy facilities while adhering to planning constraints. Located in a conservation area, the main challenge was to integrate the extension into the existing architectural context while staying within the client’s budget.

The main pharmacy building, situated on the main road, was considered a prominent structure with a dominant elevation featuring historical architectural details. The project aimed to create a design that would harmonize with these existing elements while maximizing the available space for the pharmacy’s expansion.

To address the design challenge, the project team collaborated closely with the planning department and a heritage consultant. Through multiple iterations and adjustments, a minimalistic design approach was adopted, incorporating architectural details that complemented the dominant building’s historical features. This combination of modern and traditional elements resulted in an aesthetically pleasing elevation.

The project team worked diligently to optimize the use of space within the extension while ensuring compliance with planning regulations. The proposal was carefully reviewed by the planners, and ultimately, planning consent was granted, indicating their satisfaction with the design and its integration into the conservation area.

The single-storey rear extension provides the Beeston Pharmacy with the much-needed additional space for its expanded facilities. The project’s success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the project team, the client’s vision, and the adherence to planning constraints and conservation guidelines.
